Shanghai Port played with low intensity their last game in the league with Qingdao, preparing for this Champions League fixture. They have 3 games left in China and if they win those they will be champions for sure, while they also reached the cup final defeating Shanghai Shenhua, 3-2 at home in the Semis. In the Champions League they could not do more but draw 2-2 at home with Johor DT, coming from behind twice.
